Rashford all the rage to make England squad
MANCHESTER UNITED striker Marcus Rashford moved closer to a dream place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016 when it emerged Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge’s place was under threat due to injury.
Rashford is set to make his first Three Lions start against Australia at the Stadium of Light and his odds to be included in the final 23-man squad were slashed as news of Sturridge’s latest setback emerged.
The Liverpool striker has reportedly been laid low by a calf injury after struggling with injury since the World Cup two years ago.
Rashford had been 8-1 to make the final cut – manager Roy Hodgson will have to stand three players down before Tuesday’s deadline – ten days ago but is now 1-2 with Sky Bet to go to the finals.
He is 8-1 with bet365 to start England’s first game against Russia on June 11 and 14-1 with the same firm to be his country’s top goalscorer at the tournament.
Hills go 7-2 that all five Tottenham players named in Hodgson’s 26-man squad – Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane – will all start against the Russians in Marseille.
One striker who will not be heading to France is Walsall’s Tom Bradshaw, who has withdrawn from Chris Coleman’s provisional Wales squad with a calf injury.
Jose Mourinho is set to finally be confirmed as Manchester United manager on Friday and the former Chelsea boss is 6-1 with Coral to win the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford.
Manchester City, who will be under the guidance of Mourinho’s great rival Pep Guardiola, are 2-1 favourites to win the title, while Arsenal, who finished second behind Leicester, are also 6-1.
