Reds 7-4 for FA cup glory after Blackburn victory
LIVERPOOL booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 quarter-final replay victory over Blackburn and Brendan Rodgers’ side are now 7-4 shots to win the competition for the first time since 2006.
Philippe Coutinho scored the only goal of the game for the Reds, who will now face Aston Villa in the semi-final at Wembley on April 19.
Bookmakers rate Liverpool 4-6 chances to win that contest within 90 minutes and just 1-3 to qualify for the final by any method.
Arsenal remain 5-6 favourites for back-to-back FA Cup triumphs and the layers clearly expect an Arsenal-Liverpool final, with the Gunners 1-7 to qualify against Championship side Reading.
League One bottom club Yeovil have appointed former Plymouth and Southend boss Paul Sturrock as their new manager.
The Glovers will be relegated for the second year in a row if they are beaten by Notts County on Saturday.
Sturrock, who looks to face an almost impossible task to save Yeovil from the drop, said: “It would have been nice for Real Madrid or Barcelona to call, but that’s not going to happen. And, to be fair, this is the kind of job that I enjoy.”
