Reds trimmed for title after Emirates victory

LIVERPOOL have been cut from 12-1 to 7-1 to win the Premier League title after beating Arsenal 4-3 in a thrilling season opener at the Emirates.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring just one minute after he missed a penalty before Philippe Coutinho equalised on the stroke of half-time with a free kick.

Jurgen Klopp’s boys then scored three goals in quick succession to seemingly put the result beyond doubt but Arsenal rallied to make it 4-3. The Gunners, however, were unable to level the scores and they have been eased to 11-1 with bet365.

The result put Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger back in the spotlight but the Frenchman is 1-6 still to be in charge at the Emirates come the end of the season. However, it’s 1-2 with Hills that he is still there on the opening day next year and 6-4 that he has departed.

The scoreline at the Emirates made happy reading for spread punters as Sporting Index reported taking a big hit.

“It’s cost us more than any Premier League match last season and it’s only the first week,” said spokesman Wayne Lincoln.

“As soon as the teams were named we feared for that Arsenal defence and punters were quick to anticipate goals.

“We went up 36-40 on shirts and they made up 109, while goal minutes finished up at 283.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been trimmed in the Premier League top goalscorer market after the colossal Swede scored on his league debut as Manchester United beat Bournemouth 3-1 at Dean Court.

Juan Mata opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 40th minute before Wayne Rooney doubled the lead for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Ibrahimovic made it three on 64 minutes and bet365 reacted by trimming the big striker from 5-2 into 2-1 to score 20 or more Premier League goals this season.

Bookmakers will be hoping that Zlatan, who notched against Leicester in the Community Shield last week, does not maintain his excellent start to his United career as he is a big loser in most top goalscorer books.

Steve Freeth of bet365 said: “Ibra has been heavily supported in our top goalscorer market and it all bodes well for his backers as he got off the mark at the first time of asking. He is our worst result”.

United have also been well supported in the Premier League outright market. They have been trimmed to 11-4 from 18-5 to lift the trophy.
