Retiring Rooney 15-8 to score ten more for Lions

Wayne Rooney has announced his intention to retire from international football after the 2018 World Cup, but he should have a key role to play until then and will remain captain of the Three Lions when they face Slovakia in Trnava.

The 30-year-old became England’s all-time top scorer during Euro 2016 qualifying and now has 53 goals – four more than Sir Bobby Charlton.

He faces a race against time to increase his tally. Hills bet on how many goals he will have scored by the end of the next World Cup and go 5-6 for 59 or fewer, 10-3 60 to 62 and 15-8 63 or more.

There had been speculation that Rooney would not be selected for Euro 2016, but he played in every England match this summer and looks set to remain an important player in Russia.

Hills offer 1-10 that Rooney is selected in England’s World Cup 2018 squad and 11-2 that he isn’t.

Jack Wilshere was left out of Sam Allardyce’s first England squad and looks set for a temporary move away from Arsenal after reports suggested that he has been made available for loan.

Betway opened a book on Wilshere’s club at the end of the transfer window (11pm tonight) and made Juventus the 7-2 favourites.

Valencia are an 11-1 chance and Bournemouth 12-1.

Aston Villa have boosted their attacking options by paying an initial £11m to Bristol City for Jonathan Kodjia.

The Ivory Coast striker has signed a four-year-contract at Villa Park. If all the add-ons to the deal are triggered, the fee could rise to a Sky Bet Championship record of £15m.

Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Spanish striker Lucas Perez for £17.1m from Deportivo La Coruna.

The uncapped 27-year-old netted 17 La Liga goals last term.

Arsenal are 14-1 with Ladbrokes to make the most signings of any top-flight club on deadline day.

It may be especially frantic at Hull, who are 9-2 favourites to sign the most players.

Sergio Aguero is facing a three-game suspension after being charged with violent conduct by the FA for elbowing West Ham defender Winston Reid. Aguero has until 6pm today to respond.
