Sanchez saves Premier League favourite backers

THE televised Premier League triple header finished in a feast for backers of favourites with Southampton, Arsenal and Chelsea landing home wins.

Alexis Sanchez, thanks to a 98th-minute penalty in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley, was the toast of most punters as the 2-9 Gunners just about landed maximum points to move up to second in the table.

Granit Xhaka’s second-half red card looked to have been costly for Arsenal as Andre Gray’s penalty cancelled out Shkodran Mustafi’s opener but Sanchez kept his cool at the death.

Arsenal are 9-1 to win the Premier League and bet365 make them 10-11 to finish above Tottenham but they remain eight points behind leaders Chelsea, who beat Hull 2-0.

The Blues are 4-9 to win the title but they made hard work of overcoming the spirited Tigers before Diego Costa and Gary Cahill goals earned Antonio Conte’s side victory.

Tougher tests are to come for Chelsea – their next two Premier League matches are away to Liverpool and at home to Arsenal.

Champions Leicester are 12-1 to be relegated after their dismal 3-0 defeat at Southampton. James Ward-Prowse, Jay Rodriguez and Dusan Tadic (penalty) were on target for Saints.
