Scholes cut to feature in England Euros squad

GARY NEVILLE was named as part of Roy Hodgson’s coaching
team for Euro 2012 on Monday, and one immediate consequence was the Paul Scholes was slashed to be named in the England squad.

Neville’s appointment on a four-year contract came as a surprise
yesterday and he is Hodgson’s first full-time team member following
the part-time arrivals of Fulham coach Ray Lewington and Birmingham City goalkeeping coach Dave Watson.

Hodgson is due to name his Euro 2012 squad on Wednesday, and speculation has been high that Scholes, who reversed his decision to retire from Manchester United in January and has admitted he regrets withdrawing from the England set-up, could be involved.

Ladbrokes cut the midfielder from 16-1 to 7-2 to board the plane to
Ukraine and Poland even before Neville was unveiled, and the firm now go just 2-1 that he is named in the party.

Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko said on Monday he expects to be fit for the Euros having overome back and leg problems.
