Sherwood 11-10 after Mackay deal collapses
THE next Crystal Palace manager market was thrown into chaos on Wednesday after the appointment of Malky Mackay fell through and a renewed gamble on Tim Sherwood has seen him cut to 11-10 with Ladbrokes for the role.
Sherwood had drifted to 11-2 with Hills before the news about Mackay broke and former Tottenham manager Martin Jol is in to 5-1 while ex-West Brom boss Steve Clarke is a 7-1 chance.
Assistant manager Keith Millen, an 8-1 shot, is expected to take charge of the Palace team for their league match at home to West Ham on Saturday. The Eagles are narrow 6-4 favourites to win the game.
But the managerial uncertainty at Selhurst Park has encouraged a further gamble on Crystal Palace being relegated, with Ladbrokes' 2-1 the biggest price currently available.
Former Cardiff boss Mackay had been as short as 1-10 to replace Tony Pulis and £21,000 was matched at 1.01 on Betfair on him doing so.
