Common sense points to a bet on Munich men

This Champions League final promises to be an occasion to savour and a match to remember and it should be a profitable affair if you back Bayern Munich to beat Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday.

Wigan’s win against Manchester City in the FA Cup final was a timely reminder of the vagaries of one-off knockout matches, but I’m going to stick with common sense which points to Bayern.

Dortmund have been excellent all season and have a wonderful centre-forward in Robert Lewandowski and a really positive approach. But they are weaker defensively and the loss of Mario Gotze is a huge blow.

Bayern will come at them all night long and if the full-backs aren’t on their game, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Philipp Lahm and David Alaba will wear you down. Dortmund will be doing plenty of defending and eventually they’ll crack.
