Townsend charged with breach of betting rules
TOTTENHAM midfielder Andros Townsend has been charged by the FA for breaching the game’s betting regulations.
The 21-year-old, who joined QPR on loan in January, has withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad for this summer’s European Championship.
It is understood that Townsend was not betting on games he was involved in, but a statement from the FA said he would “receive the full support of the FA and Tottenham Hotspur in seeking rehabilitation while responding to the allegations”.
