Vardy 5-4 to equal Premier League record

JAMIE VARDY has already defied odds of 8,709-1 to score in his last nine top-flight matches and the Premier League goalscoring record is in sight for the Leicester striker at Newcastle on Saturday.

Those were bet365’s accumulative odds on Vardy scoring in his last nine games and he can be backed at 5-4 with bet365, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power to notch again on Tyneside and join Ruud van Nistelrooy in scoring in ten successive matches.

Should Vardy do just that he would then have the chance to eclipse the Dutchman’s record against Manchester United next week.

The former Fleetwood forward is available at 5-1 with bet365 and Hills to surpass Van Nistelrooy and there have been no sign of Vardy slowing down in this remarkable campaign which started with him rated a 500-1 no-hoper for the Golden Boot.

Some firms now make Vardy favourite to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer, although Coral are offering the 12-goal hitman at 3-1 to finish as the leading marksman.

The 28-year-old is 5-2 with bet365 to score at least 25 league goals this season and Betfred have introduced Vardy at 12-1 to claim the PFA Player of the Year award.

Those who can’t envisage Vardy continuing his red-hot streak can take 4-6 with Hills he fails to score in a market that requires the Leicester man to start at Newcastle.

He was unavailable for England against Spain and France during the international break, although Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri confirmed Vardy has returned to training and would be in the team if able to prove his fitness.

Vardy’s goalscoring exploits have taken Leicester up to the dizzy heights of third and are 12-1 to finish in the Champions League places with the Foxes just one point off top spot.

The pace is currently being set by joint-leaders Manchester City who host Liverpool and Arsenal (at West Brom). City occupy first place on goal difference and are 1-2 with Betway to maintain that position over the weekend and Arsenal are 2-1 to leapfrog the Manchester outfit.
