Villa cut to 11-10 for drop after defeat at Newcastle

ASTON VILLA are 11-10 to be relegated after Tim Sherwood suffered a second defeat in two Premier League matches in charge.

With Leicester and QPR not in action and Burnley slipping to a home defeat to Swansea, Villa had the chance to ease the pressure on their new manager but a Papiss Cisse goal condemned them to a 1-0 defeat at Newcastle.

Burnley, Leicester and QPR remain odds-on for the drop but 3-1 shots Sunderland and Hull (4-1) are still in danger following losses at Manchester United and Stoke on Saturday.

Crystal Palace are out to 33-1 for relegation after a 3-1 win at West Ham while West Brom are the same price thanks to their 1-0 home victory over Southampton.

The Saints have been eased to 6-1 to finish in the top four with Manchester United 4-6.The five 3pm Premier League kick-offs produced only six goals, including an own-goal from Burnley's Kieran Trippier and a Wayne Rooney penalty for United.

Rooney added a second late on against Sunderland, whose manager Gus Poyet is 2-1 favourite with Hills to be the next boss to leave his job.

West Ham's Sam Allardyce is next in the betting at 5-2 while it is 6-1 that no manager is sacked before the end of the season.

The Championship promotion race is tighter than ever after defeats for the top two, Derby and Middlesbrough and eight points separate the top eight teams in the division.

The Rams are 2-1 title favourites with Boro at 7-2 and Norwich, who host Ipswich in the East Anglian derby on Sunday, 4-1.

Watford went third with a 3-2 win at Leeds and the Hornets are 10-1 to win the title.Bristol City, eight points clear, are 9-20 to win League One.
