Villa Park chosen for potential play-off clash
A PLAY-OFF for third place in the Premier League is rated a 50-1 chance by BetVictor, Paddy Power and Ladbrokes after the FA announced details of the potential tie-breaking showdown.
Chelsea and Arsenal could finish level on points, goal difference and goals scored after Sunday's final fixtures if Arsenal win by one goal at Newcastle and Chelsea draw at home to Everton while scoring two goals fewer than the Gunners (eg Arsenal win 2-1 and Chelsea draw 0-0, or Arsenal win 3-2 and Chelsea draw 1-1 etc).
If those combinations of results occur, the tie would be settled with a one-off game at Villa Park on Sunday, May 26. The winners would qualify for next season's Champions League group stage while the losers would have to start in the play-off round.
