Ireland's Euro 2020 hopes hanging by a thread after defeat
Ireland's Euro 2020 qualifying hopes are hanging by a thread after they lost 2-0 away to Switzerland on Tuesday night.
Mick McCarthy's men are out to 11-5 with bet365 to qualify from Group D and as big as 50-1 to win the section, despite sitting top on 12 points.
Ireland's final qualifier is on November 18 against Denmark, who are also on 12 points but with a game in hand. Switzerland have 11 points and are also set to play one match more than the Irish.
Winners of Euro 2008 and 2012 Spain, meanwhile, booked their place in next summer's tournament thanks to an injury-time strike from Rodrigo, which helped them to a 1-1 draw in Sweden.
