Stoke 14-1 for promotion following Nathan Jones appointment
Stoke have been trimmed to 14-1 for promotion from the Sky Bet Championship after appointing Luton Town boss Nathan Jones as their new manager.
Gary Rowett was sacked by the Potters after less than eight months in the hotseat on Tuesday and left with the club 14th in the table after Saturday's FA Cup stalemate with Shrewsbury.
Jones joined Luton in January 2016 and led the club to promotion from League Two last season.
Luton, second in League One, are 5-2 for the title and 4-9 for promotion to England’s second tier following his departure.
Jones’ first assignment as Stoke boss could be Saturday’s trip to Brentford, where they are a best-priced 9-4 to take the spoils.
Michael Appleton is the 7-4 favourite for the Luton job with Sky Bet, with Paul Hurst (4-1), Darren Ferguson (6-1) and Brian McDermott (8-1) among others in the mix.
David Moyes had led the next Stoke manager market as 11-10 favourite with Slavisa Jokanovic quoted at 5-1 but the former Fulham boss is reported to have turned down the chance to be interviewed.
