Watch this and prepare to pay the penalty

BORO are back on the box – and that’s not too promising, is it?

The last time the cameras took them in was a week or so ago when they bored their way to a 1-0 win over QPR.

A League Cup tie against one of the bigger boys on Tuesday will show them in a better light though, won’t it. Won’t it?

Not if you remember the last round of this tournament when they visited Old Trafford.

If it was predictable United would keep a clean sheet it was also pretty much a given they wouldn’t score, and so it was – 0-0, penalties and the unlikely hope that both teams would be eliminated.

Anyway, it was Boro wot won it, and their reward is a home showdown with Everton who, please God, didn’t use up all their entertainment reserves in the final throes of Saturday’s stonkingly amusing 3-3 draw at Bournemouth.

Everton, to be fair, have been full of goals of late – 14 scored in their last four – and they also let in more than is healthy.

So here’s hoping for an early Everton goal and a cabaret night on Teesside. Reality, however, suggests something less gripping, and I’m going to have a dabble on no goalscorer and shall tune back in at about 9.30pm in time for the penalties.

Expert verdict
High-flying Angers finished third on their way to promotion from Ligue 2 last season but they’ve adapted to the top flight brilliantly. Their matches are incredibly low-scoring, while for a dominant force PSG aren’t an especially free-scoring side on the road but the big-spending leaders should come out on top.
