OH great.

Another rubbish start from England at a tournament and another root and branch investigation on why the country is continually underachieving in these finals.

The clue is in the answer - if you continue to underachieve, you are not underachieving - it’s just your level.

This time around it’s the Under-21 team who have been brutally outplayed and struggling to get out of their group following the most one-sided 1-0 defeat you will ever witness against Italy on Wednesday.

Stuart Pearce was quick to bemoan the fact he was missing 17 players but that didn’t explain some of the team selections.

Jason Lowe instead of Nathaniel Chalobah, how does that work? Double shrewd that from psycho and it’s no wonder the top Premier League bosses don’t want the gaffer anywhere near their best young talent.

Now our brave young cubs take on the might of Norway on Saturday and I actually think despite all the negativity and doom and gloom (I assume it’s not just me) this looks a great opportunity to get back into contention for a spot in the knockout stages.

It was men against boys when Italy came to town but this is boys against boys and surely even this England mob are better than their Norwegian counterparts.

Erik Thorstvedt, Thomas Myhre, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Jan Aage Fjortoft, Gunnar Halle, Stig Inge Bjornebye (you know where I'm heading here) your boys are going to take one helluva beating my friends.
