You know it makes sense to back the stalemate

IT’S good to see the TV companies focusing on a number of the teams with no hope of winning the Premier League so early on in the season.

We had Aston Villa versus Newcastle doing their best to disprove the theory the Premier League is the best league in the world on Saturday and the Super Sunday offering also highlights the lesser lights with Hull hosting Stoke and Manchester United travelling to Sunderland.

Apparently Louis van Gaal has said told Danny Welbeck he can leave Old Trafford but he won’t be allowed to go to any of United’s rivals which is a savage blow to the likes of Hull, Stoke and Sunderland but I am sure they can sign someone as prolific for less money.

It’s best to get the United jokes in early because I am sure at some stage they will improve under LVG but for now I won’t be touching them at the Stadium of Light.

However, I have filed Sunderland under the category ‘not worth backing’ and filed Hull and Stoke under the file ‘not worth watching.’
Sometimes football throws up some amazing surprises - who would have believed Vincent Tan would end up being the good guy for instance - but common sense says Hull v Stoke will be rubbish.

Their two matches last season produced one goal with the fixture at the KC Stadium finishing in a 0-0 bore draw and I am backing the draw again on Sunday.
