No tears from me if we get a repeat of last term

TWO of my most favourite matches in the history of football have taken place between Crystal Palace and Liverpool so hopes are high in the Bunter household that we get the treble up when the teams meet at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The first came in the 1990 FA Cup semi-final when Palace beat Liverpool 4-3 in the same season the Eagles were downed 9-0 at Anfield and that was trumped in May as the teams played out that remarkable 3-3 draw in south London.

Unless you supported Liverpool the 3-3 draw was as good as football gets.

Luis Suarez getting the ball out of the net as the Reds raced into a 3-0 lead as they attempted to chase down Manchester City’s large goal difference only for Palace to score three times in the final 11 minutes was absolutely beautiful.

There were tears in the stands at full time, tears on the pitch and tears in my house. Although mine were tears of laughter as the drama unfolded.

Unfortunately, neither team is in the mood to deliver another beauty.

Tony Pulis no longer has the keys to the Palace, while Liverpool will struggle to score three goals for the rest of 2014 now Daniel Sturridge is ruled out until the New Year.

For this fixture last season Brendan Rodgers had Sturridge and Suarez now he has Rickie Lambert, Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli.

The trio haven’t scored a Premier League goal between them this season and Liverpool’s top scorer is three-goal Raheem Sterling who has been showing signs of tiredness in recent weeks with no goals to his name since September 20.

It’s a draw for me and I quite like the look of Tottenham to win at Hull.

Nobody seems to be talking about Hull for relegation but they’ve won only two of their last 12 matches and everyone seems to be talking about a crisis at Spurs despite the fact they have won five of their last eight matches in all competitions.
