City look too classy in JPT battle of the Robins
CHRISTMAS starts earlier every year and we've got some JPT action with a festive feel when the Robins do battle on Wednesday.
Cheltenham host Bristol City, but all-Robins affairs aren't that rare. I reckon Robins is the most popular English club nickname after Blues, assuming you don't include nicknames that are part of the team's name.
Sorry, I'm slipping dangerously into pub bore territory - I'll be bashing on about what the largest town in Europe without a railway station is next. It's no longer Corby, by the way.
The Robins v the Robins is not quite as special as the Eagles (Crystal Palace) playing the Eagles (Benfica), preferably while the Eagles hit Hotel California echoes around the stadium.
Oh God, I've gone full Alan Partridge.
Anyway, Bristol City lost their only encounter with a League Two outfit this season - going down 2-1 at home to Oxford - in the Capital One Cup but I expect a different story this time.
That was actually City's sole defeat during their 12-match campaign and they appear to have a strong enough squad to cope with this competition, despite their League One title push.
Cheltenham have failed to win any of their last six games and I reckon the visiting set of Robins fans will go bob bob bobbing along in this competition while the other bunch will be sob sob sobbing so long to the JPT.
I wonder if former Huddersfield manager Mark Robins will be watching? Sorry, that really is enough now.
