Top-flight year won't end with Anfield bore draw
You don't want to put yourself under too much pressure as a punter but it's always nice to round off the year with a winner.
It's the final Premier League game of 2014 so I've been studying up on Liverpool's home game against Swansea.
And you'll be pleased to hear that there's a cracking bet to end the year – just back both teams to score at Anfield.
There were a glut of 0-0s in the top flight on Sunday but there's no chance of another bore draw on Monday.
Goalless draws come along either when two teams with great goalkeepers – Hugo Lloris and David de Gea, for example – cancel each other out or when two not very good teams both have an off-day (check out the 'highlights' of Sunday's Aston Villa-Sunderland and QPR-Crystal Palace clashes).
Even with Simon Mignolet replacing Brad Jones for Liverpool, a goalkeeping masterclass looks unlikely and both the Reds and Swansea are playing some decent stuff at the moment.
Liverpool were impressive against Arsenal while Swansea have scored first in six of their eight away games – including trips to Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Admittedly, their other two away games finished 0-0 but I'm not even considering that possibility at Anfield.
Let's have a third-minute goal for Wilfried Bony, an equaliser for Raheem Sterling two minutes later and a much-needed early night for me.
