Steve Bruce leads the market to be the next Wolves manager

Bruce favourite to replace McCarthy

STEVE BRUCE has been installed as favourite to be the next manager of Wolves after Mick McCarthy was sacked on Monday.

McCarthy’s five-and-a-half-year reign at Molineux came to an end after they were thumped 5-1 at home to West Brom, a defeat that took them into the Premier League’s bottom three.

Bruce has been out of work since being sacked by Sunderland and is 9-2 with Blue Square, while former Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley has thrown his hat into the ring and is 11-2 with the same firm.

Curbishley has not held a managerial post since leaving Upton Park in September 2008.

Former QPR boss Neil Warnock and Blackpool manager Ian Holloway are available at 10-1.

Ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has ruled himself out of the job.

Next Wolves manager – best prices: 9-2 S Bruce (Blue Square), 11-2 A Curbishley (Blue Square), 10 N Warnock (bet365), I Holloway (BetVictor), 18 D Freedman, C Hughton (both Paddy Power), 20 bar
