Cowley front-runner for Ipswich job
THE appointment of Italian Giuliano Terraneo as technical consultant at West Brom has seen Patrick Kluivert’s name jump to the head of the market to become Albion’s next manager.
Chief executive Mark Jenkins has said the “culture and the direction” needs to change at the Hawthorns and the Dutchman is 2-1 from 5-2 shot Mick McCarthy.
Kluivert has never managed at senior club level and has been out of full-time employment since leaving his role as Paris St-Germain’s director of football in 2017.
McCarthy’s departure from Ipswich has left a vacancy at Portman Road with Danny Cowley favourite at 11-4 with Betfair to be next in at Town.
Cowley worked wonders on the Essex non-league circuit and shot to fame at Lincoln where the club has had great success, gaining promotion to Sky Bet League Two, reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals and winning the Football League trophy at Wembley.
Others seen to be in the Tractor Boys frame include 6-1 shot Tony Mowbray and Paul Hurst at 4-1.
Ladbrokes rate Shefki Kuqi 10-1. The Flying Finn, who has experience in his homeland, is keen on the position.
