Hart 9-2 to make Southgate's 23-man World Cup squad

Joe Hart has drifted out to 9-2 to make England’s 23-man World Cup squad after reports suggested the goalkeeper has been told he will not be on the plane to Russia.

The news means Burnley shot-stopper Nick Pope has been cut to 1-10 with some firms to get the nod from Gareth Southgate, who names his squad on Wednesday.

Goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland can each be found at a general 1-50 and Pickford is the odds-on 1-4 favourite with Sky Bet to start England’s opening game against Tunisia.

Among the outsiders to occupy the goalkeeping positions are Tom Heaton, who is a general 5-1 shot, and Alex McCarthy who is a best-priced 20-1.

Expert verdict
Belgium cruised to an easy win over Panama in their World Cup opener and could be just as comfortable against Tunisia in Moscow. The Belgians took a while to get going against Panama but should be better for the experience and face very little threat from the defensive-minded Tunisians.
