Liverpool odds-on for Champions League berth

THE Champions League is one game away for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp is odds-on to return the Reds to Europe’s premier club competition by winning the Europa League.

Liverpool will meet holders Seville in the final in Basel on May 18 with the Merseysiders 3-4 to lift the trophy, while the Spanish side are at 11-10 to make it a hat-trick of Europa titles.

Daniel Sturridge scored in Thursday’s 3-0 semi-final win over Villarreal and is 7-4 with Coral to start England’s opening Euro 2016 match against Russia and 7-1 to top-score for Roy Hodgson’s side in France.

Liverpool continue to put down decent markers for next season and Ladbrokes cut them to 9-1 from 11-1 to win the 2016-17 Premier League title.

Reigning champions Leicester are 40-1 with Betway but Coral clipped the Foxes from 28-1 to 25-1 for a successful defence of the trophy which they will lift after the match against Everton at the King Power.

However, bet365 have gone the other way and chopped Claudio Ranieri’s men from 50-1 to 33-1 to be relegated despite Leicester sitting seven points clear at the top of the table.

Tottenham are next best and they face Southampton without Mousa Dembele after he was given a six-match ban for an eye-gouging incident on Chelsea’s Diego Costa on Monday which was missed by Stamford Bridge arbiter Mark Clattenburg.

Spurs are 6-1 with Betway to have a player sent off against Saints and manager Mauricio Pochettino is 25-1 to enter the field of play during the match, like he did at the Bridge.

The game remains important for Spurs to finish above north London rivals Arsenal, with bet365 rating Tottenham 1-10 favourites in a match bet with the Gunners at 6-1.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of the European Championship after suffering another knee injury. Germany and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will also miss the finals.
