Leaders move step closer to being champions
LIVERPOOL did not make it comfortable for their supporters but ultimately Brendan Rodgers’ side moved a step closer to the glory of becoming Premier League champions after a jittery 3-2 success at Norwich’s Carrow Road.
The result means Liverpool need a maximum of seven points from their last three games to win the title and they are no better than 1-6 to do just that, with Coral making them 11-4 for a perfect triumphant finish.
Bet365 rate Liverpool 4-1 not to win the league, while Ladbrokes quote skipper Steven Gerrard at 8-11 to be named the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year with Chinese GP winner Lewis Hamilton 5-1.
Raheem Sterling scored twice for Liverpool and Luis Suarez was also on target for the leaders, although Norwich mounted a spirited second-half performance and were slightly unfortunate to lose in a result which left the Canaries 17th in the table.
However, as other teams around them continue to pick up points Norwich are 2-9 to be relegated.
David Moyes’ return to Goodison Park ended in defeat with Manchester United losing 2-0 to Everton, who opened the scoring with a Leighton Baines penalty and Kevin Mirallas added a second in the first half.
The Toffees are 4-1 to finish in the top four but they remain a point behind 1-5 shots Arsenal as the Gunners recorded a 3-0 success at fellow FA Cup finalists Hull.
United are odds-on to miss out on the Europa League with Ladbrokes rating them 11-5 for a top-six finish and Tottenham are 4-11 with bet365 to claim that prize.
Moyes is 1-2 with Ladbrokes to start next season at Old Trafford and 6-4 to have departed by then.
