Parker 5-2 to be captain after Capello's departure

FABIO CAPELLO’S decision to quit as England manager will be better news for some players and Scott Parker is seen as the man who could benefit most according to punters and bookmakers alike.

Parker was slashed to 5-2 to captain England at Euro 2012 with many tipping Harry Redknapp to replace the Italian. Parker is well liked by club boss Redknapp and has already led Tottenham at various stages this term.

Steven Gerrard remains odds-on favourite at 5-6 with Paddy Power, who are offering Rio Ferdinand at 16-1. Ferdinand, like Parker, has worked with Redknapp before, while others seen as being in with a shout include Joe Hart (11-2) and Gareth Barry (9-1).

Redknapp has said he is solely focused on his position as Spurs manager but Ladrokes have suspended betting on him taking over the Three Lions on a permanent basis.

Paddy Power have paid out on Redknapp being Capello's replacement.
