Promoted Brighton 4-6 to survive in top flight

BRIGHTON had to wait 34 years to return to the top flight and bookmakers are expecting them to have a memorable first season in the Premier League after gaining promotion.

Albion beat Wigan 2-1 to seal their Premier League place and bet365 reacted by rating Brighton 4-6 to stay in the Premier League next season.

Glenn Murray got the party started with the opener before John Swift added a second and Huddersfield’s 1-1 draw at Derby saw Brighton back in the top flight. The Seagulls had been 4-1 ante-post to go up.

Chris Hughton’s team can be backed at 11-10 for relegation, while they are 10-1 to finish in the Premier League’s top half.

Newcastle lost 3-1 at Ipswich which means Brighton are seven points clear in the race for first place and could seal the Sky Bet Championship title away to Norwich on Friday.

At the other end of the table Gianfranco Zola quit Birmingham after they lost 2-0 to Burton. Blues are only three points above the relegation zone.

Chesterfield, who had been 11-4 shots to be relegated ante-post, were demoted from Sky Bet League One, while Plymouth and Portsmouth celebrated promotion to that division. Argyle had been 7-2 to go up ante-post and Pompey were 11-10.

Chelsea have announced John Terry will leave the club this summer. Hills are 4-5 he signs for a Major League Soccer club and it’s 4-1 he heads to China.
