Red card unlikely in top FA Cup tussle at Anfield

THERE are a couple of fiery FA Cup ties taking place on Saturday but at least Anfield referee Mark Halsey should be the right man to calm things down as Liverpool take on Manchester United for the first time since Luis Suarez was banned for racially abusing United left-back Patrice Evra.

Halsey, regarded by Racing Post's soccer boffin Kevin Pullein as the best referee in England, hasn't dished out a red card for more than a year.

And bookmakers reckon that's unlikely to change even in the Anfield cauldron with Paddy Power best at 2-7 that Halsey's red cards stays in his pocket.

Bet365 are betting on the number of red cards and go 3-1 that exactly one is given while Paddy Power make United narrow 9-2 favourites to see red first.

With Carling Cup finalists Liverpool facing a tough battle to keep up their trophy push on two fronts and Manchester United having already seen off league leaders Manchester City, Hills are offering 7-4 that any Premier League club wins more than one major trophy this season.

The match is part of a huge run of games for Kenny Dalglish's side, who face Cardiff at Wembley at the end of the next month as well as hoping to resurrect their push for a top-four finish.

Paddy Power are betting on how many wins they manage in their next six matches and make two or fewer their even-money favourite.

Anton Ferdinand and John Terry go head to head at Loftus Road for the first time since the incident that led to Terry facing charges of racial abuse.

Hills believe Terry is more likely to face a backlash from the opposition with QPR 9-2 for one of their players to be booked for a foul on the Chelsea skipper. It's 13-2 that a foul on Ferdinand leads to a yellow card.

Leicester are 7-1 favourites with bet365 to be the leading scorers in Saturday's FA Cup ties, followed by the Blues at 8-1 and Blackpool and West Brom at 10-1.

The Foxes host Swindon, the Tangerines tackle Sheff Wed at Bloomfield Road and Norwich make the trip to the Hawthorns and the Baggies.
