Harry Redknapp is the hot favourite to replace Fabio Capello
Redknapp all the rage to replace Capello
HARRY REDKNAPP insisted on Thursday that he hasn’t even thought about the prospect of replacing Fabio Capello but he continues to be all the rage in the next England manager betting.
Paddy Power have already paid out on the Tottenham manager taking the Three Lions reins, although they were still offering 2-7 about him being the permanent appointment last night.
Stuart Pearce has been put in charge for the friendly against Holland next month and is 6-1 in the betting, but Redknapp is the only manager punters want to support.
And, with him being so short to take over, there has been a Redknapp effect on other markets.
Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard has been eased to skipper for their first Euro 2012 group game against France, while Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker has been cut to 11-4 and there has even been money for Redknapp’s nephew Frank Lampard, who has been cut to 7-1 from 14-1.
The FA have not ruled out appointing another foreign manager and former Chelsea bosses Guus Hiddink and Jose Mourinho are 14-1 and 16-1.
Real Madrid manager Mourinho is 9-2 to replace Redknapp at Tottenham.
