Rooney 4-6 to top-score for the Toffees
WAYNE ROONEY European debut for Everton was nowhere near as spectacular as his first outing for Manchester United which finished with a hat-trick, but he is still odds-on favourite to top the Toffees’ Premier League goalscoring charts this season.
Returning hero Rooney, who started as the central striker in a 4-3-3 formation, rarely looked a threat as Everton laboured to a 1-0 Europa League third qualifying round first-leg win over Ruzomberok at Goodison Park on Thursday.
The 31-year-old is 4-6 with bet365 to top-score for the Toffees with fellow summer recruits Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaassen available at 6-4 and 10-1 respectively.
However, it is worth bearing in mind that Ronald Koeman is reportedly seeking more firepower to replace the goals of the sold Romelu Lukaku.
Only two of the 20 Premier League clubs have not been priced up by bet365 with Swansea and Arsenal missing from the list and as far as the Gunners are concerned it remains to be seen whether Alexis Sanchez will still be in north London in September.
Alexis is supposed to return to Arsenal over the weekend but has posted pictures on his social media, claiming illness.
Sky Bet rate the Chilean 4-5 to remain at Arsenal after the summer transfer window and a switch to Manchester City is 15-8 with Hills. Paddy Power rate PSG 9-2 shots to sign Sanchez.
