Uncapped teenager 66-1 for Russia start at Euros

ROY HODGSON named England's provisional 26-man squad for the European Championship on Monday and bookmakers believe that Danny Drinkwater, Fabian Delph and Marcus Rashford will be the three men to miss out on the final cut in the race to France.

Rashford was the most surprising name plucked out by Hodgson as only last month the uncapped teenager was trading at 20-1 to force his way into the 23-man party.

The Manchester United forward is now 5-1 to earn a place in Hodgson's final squad but there is disagreement over his chances of starting England's opening Euro 2016 Group B encounter against Russia in Marseille on June 11.

Coral offer 66-1 Rashford gets the nod but Bet365 go only 8-1 and 1-14 that he doesn't.

Rashford made his United debut in February, and has scored seven times in 16 appearances. He can still be backed at 50-1 with Coral to finish top of the scoring charts for England at Euro 2016.

However, it seems likely that Rashford will miss out and Hills are offering 1-4 that he watches the tournament on the sidelines.

Hodgson has selected only seven defenders and five forwards so the midfield looks the logical department to face the axe when the 23-man squad is  finalised on May 27.

Coral make Delph 4-5 to miss out and Drinkwater is 4-6 but much depends on the fitness of Liverpool's Jordan Henderson and Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, who are just returning from injury.

Andros Townsend seems to be the man most likely to take advantage of Danny Welbeck's late injury heartbreak and the Newcastle winger is 8-15 to make Hodgson's squad.

There is no place for Arsenal's out-of-favour Theo Walcott, who had been a 1-5 poke to make the squad when betting opened.
Walcott was still odds-on before the weekend and Townsend has beaten him in the race for a place despite drifting to 12-1 at the start of the month.

Townsend looks set to play the role of super sub at best in France, though, with Coral rating him 7-1 to start the opener as most of the places in the 11 are locked down.

If the betting is correct England will line up with Joe Hart in goal and a back four of Nathaniel Clyne, Chris Smalling, Gary Cahill and Danny Rose.

Midfield remains the key battle ground with Spurs duo Eric Dier and Dele Alli seen as the only two good things, possibly because of the concern over whether Henderson and Wilshere will be up to full speed by next month.

Skipper Wayne Rooney and Harry Kane are expected to start as the forwards and Ladbrokes are betting on the skipper's position for the opening game.

Rooney is evens to start in the central attacking position - presumably behind Kane - 3-1 on the left wing, 5-1 as the main striker and 10-1 on the right. Rooney is 4-1 not to start.

The Three Lions are 9-1 fourth favourites to win the European Championship and 5-1 with Hills to go through a group which also includes Slovakia and Wales with a 100 per cent record, as they did in qualifying.

Paddy Power are 11-10 that they open with a victory against the Russians.
