Morning Assembly could still go for Gold run

CHAMPAGNE FEVER was on Thursday ruled out of a clash with the senior two-mile chasers in next week's Boylesports Champion Chase, but fellow top novice Morning Assembly could still tackle Long Run and On His Own in the Bibby Financial Services Ireland Gold Cup.

Champagne Fever, second in the Racing Post Arkle Chase, is set to stick to novice company in the Ryanair Novice Chase on Thursday, despite having been as short as 6-1 to land Tuesday's championship race.

Morning Assembly remains in Wednesday's Gold Cup, with Tuesday's Growise Champion Novice Chase the alternative.

Trainer Pat Fahy said: "We left him in the Gold Cup because we've paid the money up to this point already and thought we may as well. If we heard certain horses were not running in the Gold and that it was cutting up and likely to be a small field, then we would consider it over the novice race."

Davy Russell, who partnered him into third in the RSA Chase, is likely to retain the ride.

Benfica v Juventus

Home Win Draw Away Win
Expert verdict
The two best teams left in the Europa League meet in Lisbon and Benfica look a value punt to take a lead back to Turin. Benfica have an outstanding home record in European competition and Juventus showed with their early Champions League exit that they are not hugely comfortable on the road in hostile arenas.
