Ruthless Red Devils cut for glory after easy win

WAYNE ROONEY and Robin van Persie were in the goals again on Saturday as Manchester United were cut to 8-15 for the Premier League after a 3-1 success over struggling Sunderland.

Both United strikers found the net as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side maintained their six-point lead over arch-rivals City, who won 3-1 at Newcastle. Roberto Mancini’s men are 9-4 with Ladbrokes to retain their title.

Bottom club QPR held on to claim their first win of the season against Fulham and Harry Redknapp’s team are out to 8-11 to be relegated.

Aston Villa have drifted to 4-1 for the drop with Boylesports and Ladbrokes after triumphing 3-1 at Liverpool, who are 12th and 10-1 with the Magic Sign to finish in the bottom half after suffering their fifth league defeat of the season.

Man City v Chelsea

Home Win Draw Away Win
Key stats
  • Man City have not led at half-time in any of their last 19 league meetings with Chelsea
Expert verdict
Jose Mourinho outwitted the eventual champions last season and Chelsea have the ability to do it again. They have scored nine goals in their two away games and Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas have settled in brilliantly. The Blues have far more potency in attack than last season but still possess the steel required to keep a check on City’s creative players.
