Gunners can continue to impress under Arteta

Mikel Arteta has received a warm welcome from Arsenal supporters and can stay in their good books by steering the Gunners to victory over Leeds in Monday’s FA Cup tie.

At their best, Sky Bet Championship highflyers Leeds would give Arsenal a stern examination.

But Marcelo Bielsa is far more interested in league points than FA Cup progress and is likely to ring the changes.

Last season he made seven changes for FA Cup third-ound weekend his side lost 2-1 at QPR.

The Argentinian’s attitude is unlikely to be any different and his main focus will be on the league game at home to Sheffield Wednesday five days later.

Arteta may make changes too but his squad is bigger.

Arsenal have regularly rotated for Europa League games and performed well, finishing top of Group F.

They are not in a great place in the league but the FA Cup offers a chance of silverware and they can make a positive start.

Expert verdict
Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the FA Cup third round and a similar scoreline could follow at the KCOM Stadium. Inconsistent Hull managed only three shots on target en route to losing their last two Championship outings and the youthful Blues look a class above their hosts.
