Villans should prove too strong for youthful Reds

Sky Sports Football, 7.45pm Tuesday

Aston Villa should be too strong for what will essentially be a third-choice Liverpool side with the Reds’ senior players in Qatar ahead of their Club World Cup semi-final.

Many of the players will be drawn from Liverpool’s academy side who struggled in this season’s EFL Trophy, finishing at the foot of a section featuring Accrington, Fleetwood and Oldham.

Villa have knocked out Premier League sides Brighton (3-1) and Wolves (2-1), and can repeat the trick against a youthful Liverpool team, although they may again struggle to keep a clean sheet.

Best bet
Aston Villa to win and both teams to score

Expert verdict
Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the FA Cup third round and a similar scoreline could follow at the KCOM Stadium. Inconsistent Hull managed only three shots on target en route to losing their last two Championship outings and the youthful Blues look a class above their hosts.
