Atletico may have no answer to Anfield power
Liverpool v Atletico Madrid - Champions League last-16 second leg
BT Sport 2, 8pm Wednesday
Liverpool to qualify
Defeat to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 sparked a dip in form for Liverpool, who were finally beaten in the Premier League after 28 games by Watford before Chelsea dumped them out of the FA Cup.
Trailing 1-0 to a team like Atletico, who are masters at clinging on to leads, is not ideal but the Reds are a different proposition at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have won all 14 of their home league games, scoring 38 goals, and they did not concede in any of their knockout matches on Merseyside in last season’s competition, beating Porto 2-0 and Barcelona 4-0 after a goalless draw with Bayern Munich in the round of 16.
Draws with lowly Espanyol and out-of-form Valencia recently highlight that Atletico are far from the impenetrable force they have been in recent seasons and punters are advised to back Liverpool to qualify.
