Man City can get back on track with Selhurst stroll

Early season defeats to Norwich and Wolves mean Manchester City can ill-afford any more slip-ups in their title defence and the recovery mission should begin with a convincing victory over Crystal Palace.

Pep Guardiola’s team already find themselves eight points behind Liverpool with just eight games played and they were bitterly disappointing in a 2-0 reverse at home to Wolves prior to the international break, forcing just two shots on target.

But that was the first time they had failed to score in 29 league games and the Citizens often back up a flat performance with a flawless one.

City’s 3-2 loss at Norwich was followed by an 8-0 demolition of Watford and Guardiola will be demanding a positive response from his players.

Palace have 14 points from eight games but were thumped 4-0 at Tottenham last month and could manage only one draw from last term’s home games with big-six visitors.

Expert verdict
Chelsea beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the FA Cup third round and a similar scoreline could follow at the KCOM Stadium. Inconsistent Hull managed only three shots on target en route to losing their last two Championship outings and the youthful Blues look a class above their hosts.
