Determined Red Devils can defy Rooney’s Rams

BT Sport 1, 7.45pm Thursday

Best bet

Man United &  both teams to score

Wayne Rooney will be the centre of attention at Pride Park and his Derby County side will go into their tie against Manchester United with the confidence of causing an upset.

The Rams famously beat United at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup last season before performing admirably against Chelsea. They have already seen off Premier League opposition in Crystal Palace in this term’s competition.

Derby’s league form has been patchy in recent weeks, however, with Saturday’s 3-1 success at Sheffield Wednesday their first win in five.

United have placed great importance on domestic cups under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having made the last four of the EFL Cup.

They are yet to concede in three FA Cup games this term but may struggle to shut out the Rams.
