Crystal Palace v West Ham

Both sides have a similar profile with great attacking options but are leaky at the back. This should mean we're in for an entertaining game. We outlined in our preseason guide about the Hammers defence conceding the fourth-most goals in the league last season and they conceded two on opening day at home to Villa.

Fulham v Leicester

Fulham were impressive on Friday night and controlled parts of the game away at Old Trafford. Leicester were quite the opposite and were fortunate to come away with a point against Spurs. Fulham were very good at Craven Cottage last season and won six of nine against bottom half sides.

Southampton v Nottingham Forest

Forest went unbeaten against the three relegated sides last season and picked up wins in two of their away games. The Tricky Trees put in a good performance last weekend against Bournemouth and were five minutes away from an opening day victory. Their attack should be too strong for Southampton.

Aston Villa v Arsenal

Villa did the double over the Gunners last season. They were fortunate in the home leg with the Gunners team selection but they also went unbeaten at home against Man City and Liverpool. Arsenal won just one game away at the top seven last season. Villa Park has been a fortress under Unai Emery and I think they are overpriced to avoid defeat against the Gunners.

Bournemouth v Newcastle

Newcastle lost 10 of 12 away games against the top 12 last season, so I can't see why they are 6/5 favourites against a good Bournemouth side. The Cherries went unbeaten against Newcastle last season with a 2-0 home win, and 2-2 draw at St. James' Park. Evanilson is ready to feature this week after signing to replace Solanke. Fabian Schar will be suspended.
