The return of a domestic football coupon is bliss
IT’S back.
Saturday’s were not the same during the summer without the world’s most beautiful thing: a domestic football coupon.
I can spend as many hours looking at a weekend coupon as I can checking out Michelle Keegan and Kelly Brook.
The thinking, the tactics, the plotting, the guessing; it all makes for a wonderful time that only us punters understand.
The heartbreak of the last-minute loser, the magic of the last-minute winner. The drama all comes flooding back on Saturday when the Football League returns with a bang.
Of course all of this enthusiasm will go down the toilet should I not be flush come the full-time whistles but it’s a new season and for the time being confidence is sky-high.
Bet number one is Barnsley to beat Crawley in League One.
The Tykes have made a couple of eye-catching signings, none more so than Sam Winnall who scored 23 goals for Scunthorpe in League Two last season.
And League Two is where Crawley could be creeping to this term.
Loads of players have come in but more good ones have departed Sussex over the summer and John Gregory could well have a tough job on his hands this season.
I also like Yeovil to beat Doncaster in a game almost certainly not being billed as the relegated from the Championship derby.
There were high hopes for Donny when it was reported boy band member Louis Tomlinson was on the verge of taking them over but that deal fell through and the Yorkshire outfit look sure to be heading in one direction.
