Lack of action has me casting further afield
BOXING DAY always has more footy than you can shake a stick at – they should call it ruddy Football Day – and there was some darts and racing thrown in for good measure. Entertainment is more difficult to find on December 27.
I've spent some time running a fine-toothed comb through the football fixture list and most of the matches provide a serious test of my global knowledge of the beautiful game. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to get involved.
First up in the morning are two Aussie A-League matches, which I have to put a line through. I like occasionally settling down for Neighbours or Home and Away, feasting my eyes on sun-drenched beaches and gorgeous tanned blondes, but I doubt that research will help me find a winner in Brisbane Roar versus Melbourne City.
Then we've got four Turkish Super Lig matches, along with an international friendly between Zimbabwe and Cameroon. As they say on Mastermind – pass!
Nope, there are essentially only two footy contests I can evaluate on the 27th – Hearts against Celtic in the Scottish Premier League and the Forest-Leeds dust-up in the Championship. I've still got the mistletoe out and am playing the draw double – XX – kiss, kiss.
