Brazil 10-1 for World Cup after thrashing rivals

A NUMBER of bookmakers have cut Brazil to win the World Cup after they thrashed South American rivals Argentina 3-0.

Paddy Power took the most drastic action, chopping Brazil to 6-1 but Hills are still prepared to lay the Samba Stars at 10-1.

Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho were on target for table-toppers Brazil in a result which left Argentina languishing down in sixth spot in Conmebol qualifying with seven rounds of matches remaining.

Only the top four qualify automatically for Russia in 2018 with the fifth-placed side facing a playoff against the Oceanian sectional winners.

Despite the result and their sorry run in the qualification campaign, Argentina are still shorter than Brazil to win the World Cup at 9-1 with Betfred.

Ireland, who travel to Austria on Saturday, are 9-4 with Sky Bet to qualify for the finals in Russia with Coral offering 1-3 that Martin O’Neill’s men miss out.

Coral go 11-10 that Euro 2016 semi-finalists Wales, who host Serbia, can find a path through to the finals.

Conmebol standings: 24 Brazil, 23 Uruguay, 18 Colombia, 17 Ecuador, Chile, 16 Argentina, 15 Paraguay, 14 Peru, 5 Venezuela, 4 Bolivia. All teams have played 11 games.
