Buzzing Bees 4-1 for the Premier League
THE Championship has produced so many turns throughout the season and there were a couple more dramatic twists on the final day of the campaign with Bournemouth crowned champions and Brentford squeezing into the playoffs.
A 3-0 with over Wigan for the Bees combined with a shock 3-0 home loss for Derby against Reading saw Brentford set up a playoff semi-final against Middlesbrough and Mark Warburton’s side, who had been 9-2 to reach the top six before kick off, are now 4-1 to be promoted to the Premier League after finishing the regular season in fifth spot.
Ipswich, 3-2 losers at Blackburn, slipped down to sixth and will meet arch-rivals Norwich over two legs for a spot at Wembley. The Canaries are 15-8 favourites to win the playoffs, while Boro are 12-5 with Betway and Ipswich can be backed at 4-1 with bet365 and Betfred.
Promoted Watford looked on course to win the Championship until Atdhe Nuhiu equalised for Sheffield Wednesday in a 1-1 draw that allowed Bournemouth to finish on top thanks to a 3-0 win at Charlton. The Cherries had been 25-1 ante-post. Blackpool against Huddersfield was abandoned after home fans stormed the pitch in protest at the way the club is being run.
