City claim easy League Cup win over Arsenal

MANCHESTER CITY secured the first trophy of the Pep Guardiola reign with a comfortable 3-0 League Cup final success over Arsenal at Wembley as they easily justified 8-13 favouritism.

Sergio Aguero’s first-half opener put City in control and they stepped up a level after the break with skipper Vincent Kompany adding a second before David Silva finished the scoring for the Premier League leaders, who had been 13-2 to lift the trophy ante-post.

It will be a case of what might have been for any punter who had backed City, beaten in the FA Cup with ten men at Wigan, to land the quadruple at juicy prices but those who fancy getting involved for next season’s four-timer can get 200-1 with Betfred.

Arsenal put in a terrible performance and the Europa League looks to be all that is left for them to salvage the campaign with the Gunners ten points off the Champions League qualifying spots via the Premier League following Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Fifth-placed Chelsea out to 11-8 for a top-four finish after a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.

Willian deservedly put the champions ahead but Romelu Lukaku equalised and the former Blues forward turned provider for substitute Jesse Lingard to push United back up to second spot.

Jose Mourinho’s men are 1-10 to finish in the top four and BoyleSports rate United and Liverpool both at 5-4 to win the market without City.

Injury-hit Palace are in 17th spot and can be backed at 12-5 to be relegated as they went down to a late Harry Kane winner at Selhurst Park.
Kane, on 24 league goals for the season and one ahead of Mo Salah, is 8-15 to claim the Golden Boot and Spurs are 1-3 for a top-four finish.
