City win fails to impress bookmakers
MANCHESTER CITY started their Premier League campaign with a victory but they had to dig deep before winning 2-0 at Newcastle on Sunday.
Bookmakers were not impressed enough to promote City to title favourites with Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit 9-4 to retain the crown after David Silva opened the scoring and substitute Sergio Aguero grabbed a late second.
Aguero is 7-1 with Hills to finish as the Premier League’s top goalscorer, while Daniel Sturridge was made the 5-1 favourite by some firms following his goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Southampton.
Raheem Sterling’s effort had earlier been cancelled out by Nathaniel Clyne before Sturridge notched the winner at Anfield and Liverpool are 11-1 to win the Premier League.
