Facey jailed for his role in match fixing

DELROY FACEY has been found guilty of match-fixing allegations and sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.

The former Premier League footballer was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court of conspiring to bribe non-league players.

Facey, 35, whose clubs included Bolton, West Brom and Hull in a  career spanning almost 20 years, denied any wrongdoing despite targeting players at struggling non-league clubs with the promise of ‘easy money’ for fixing the results of matches.

Former non-league player Moses Swaibu, 25, was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery. He was jailed for 16 months for his part in the conspiracy.

The two were arrested as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into match fixing.
