Falcao 14-1 for a golden season at United
LOUIS VAN GAAL is convinced Danny Welbeck cannot score enough goals to be considered a prolific Premier League striker but Arsenal’s new boy gets an immediate chance to prove the Manchester United manager wrong as he prepares to make his Gunners debut.
Welbeck is 11-5 with Paddy Power to score against Manchester City on Saturday, while a brace is 12-1 (Hills, Ladbrokes) and the dream hat-trick is 80-1 (Paddy Power).
Confidence should not be a problem for Welbeck following his two goals for England in Switzerland on Monday and Betfred make Arsenal’s number 23 a 14-1 shot to be named man of the match.
Welbeck has never managed to reach double figures in a Premier League season and the 23-year-old is 2-5 with bet365 to start but not score against City. He is 5-6 with the same firm to finally manage a ten-goal league term and 7-4 to outscore Falcao.
United’s new hitman, who is 1-2 with Hills to be more prolific in the Premier League than Welbeck, is expected to make his debut against QPR on Sunday.
Falcao is a general 14-1 to win the Premier League Golden Boot – Welbeck can be backed at 40-1 in the same market – and the Colombian is 100-30 favourite to notch the opener at Old Trafford. He is 4-5 to score at any time.
James Beattie has left his job as manager of Accrington with the club 21st in League Two and 5-2 second-favourites to go down.
