Lampard rescues a late draw for ten-man City

FRANK LAMPARD was so often the man who gained Chelsea precious points in difficult situations but his goal for Manchester City against his former club may have saved the Premier League season.

Chelsea had been 4-9 to win the title after Andre Schurrle’s goal gave them the lead at the Etihad but ten-man City grabbed a late equaliser through substitute Lampard to at least make sure the leaders were unable to move eight points ahead of them.

Thirty three games remain but the Blues may well have been almost out of sight had they held on, but as it is Chelsea can be backed at 8-11 to win the title with City, who had Pablo Zabaleta sent off, 10-3 to retain the crown.

Hills make Chelsea only 14-1 to go through the season unbeaten, while bet365 quote Manchester United a bigger price than that to win the title following a 5-3 loss to Leicester which
left them at 16-1 to finish as champions.

Some of United’s forward play was sensational with Angel Di Maria scoring a delightful chip, but United were eventually torn apart as leads of 2-0 and 3-1 slipped away with the Foxes backed to tiny amounts at 390 on Betfair.

Leonardo Ulloa scored twice, while David Nugent, Esteban Cambiasso and Jamie Vardy were also on target for Leicester and United’s miserable day was complete when defender Tyler Blackett was sent off.

Louis van Gaal is 6-1 with Hills not to last the season at Old Trafford with the Dutchman’s woeful start continuing.

United have won one of their opening six matches in all competitions and are 4-5 to finish in the top four, but there was huge punter confidence behind them with spread players hurt most by the heavy reverse.

Sporting Index’s Wayne Lincoln said: “I’ve never known a game like it. An eight-goal game is normally carnage but because all the trade was so weighted to United, it ended up as one of our best results for years.”

And the other results – Tottenham losing 1-0 at home to West Brom and Everton going down 3-2 to Crystal Palace at Goodison Park – also hit the vast majority of punters hard.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “It’s safe to say it was a super Sunday for us. The results were absolutely perfect.”
