United 11-1 for Europa League compensation
MANCHESTER UNITED will have to make do with a place in the Europa League knockouts in the new year and bookmakers are not particularly sweet about the Red Devils’ chances of success in Europe’s secondary competition.
It is set to be a strong Europa field with the eight Champions League rejects joining the likes of Napoli and Borussia Dortmund in Monday’s draw for the last 32 and Coral reacted by quoting United at 11-1 to gain compensation in the competition.
Tuesday’s 3-2 loss at Wolfsburg condemned United to the Europa League and the misery continued as Louis van Gaal confirmed defenders Matteo Darmian and Chris Smalling suffered knocks during the defeat to extend their current injury crisis.
Despite the host of unavailable players, Van Gaal has still come under fierce criticism for United’s Champions League failure but he is not expected to lose his job.
The Dutchman is 4-1 with Coral to depart Old Trafford before the end of this season and Hills rate the 64-year-old 2-5 to still be at United for the start of next term.
However, United are 2-5 with bet365 to suffer another trophyless campaign and it’s 11-4 they miss out on the Premier League’s top four.
