Celtic crash out of the Champions League
Celtic have been knocked out of the Champions Leagueat in the third qualifying round after losing 4-3 at home to Romanian side CFR Cluj.
Playing in the group stage would have earned the Glasgow club a guaranteed £14m in prize money, but they will now face AIK of Sweden or Sherrif Tiraspol of Moldova in the playoffs of the far less lucrative Europa League.
Celtic had been expected to progress after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, but trailed 1-0 at half time at Parkhead and despite scoring three goals in the second half they never looked comfortable in defence.
Manager Neil Lennon was criticised for selecting playmaker Callum McGregor at left-back despite summer signing Boli Bolingoli sitting on the bench, and Celtic could face a tough season with resurgent Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers looking capable of challenging for the title.
Ladbrokes offer 80-1 that Celtic win the Europa League.
