Hughes all the rage for vacant Southampton job
Mark Hughes has emerged as the favourite to fill the Southampton hotseat after Mauricio Pellegrino parted company with the south-coast club on Monday.
Pellegrino's eight-month reign came to an end with the Saints just one point above the relegation zone with eight games left. They are 15-8 to go down.
Hughes finished his playing career at Southampton, making 52 appearances between 1998 and 2000, but could face competition from Marco Silva, who was dismissed by Watford in January.
Silva was the initial favourite to replace Pellegrino but was quickly usurped by Hughes, who shortened to odds-on.Hughes was a 1-2 chance on Tuesdayy, with Silva 15-8 and Slaven Bilic 9-1. Ostersunds boss Graham Potter has been cut from 33-1 to 20-1 by Sky Bet.
With Pellegrino having left his post, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte comes under the spotlight as the Blues head to Barcelona for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.
The Stamford Bridge outfit, who are four points adrift of the Premier League's top four, ended a run of three games without a win on Saturday when they beat Crystal Palace, but Betway offer 3-1 that Wednesday night's clash at Camp Nou will be Conte's last in charge.
The former Italy and Juventus manager has been linked with a move to French big-spenders Paris St-Germain.
